I’ve been going at it for two days now, and I’m going a little crazy. I’ve read tons of articles but nothing has worked. Here’s my situation:
I am trying to move a localhost website running on MAMP to my live host, run by ipower.com. My impression as it stands now is that I am supposed to move the wordpress files via ftp upload to my live host, and then to export the sql database from my localhost and import that database to my live host using phpmyadmin. Then I am supposed to alter the wp-config file so the DB_NAME matches my newly uploaded database name, DB_USER matches the username for that database, DB_PASSWORD matches the password, etc, in order for the wordpress files to work with the sql database.
So far, this has not worked. I am concerned that part of the problem may be that I optimized the site for security on the localhost, and part of the security measure was to change the filename of the wp-content directory. I did this using the security plugin “Better WP Security.”
Can anyone see if I may have missed something here?
WordPress version: 3.3.2
PHP version: 5.2.12 (live host) & 5.3.6 (localhost)
mySQL Version: 5.0.91 (live host) & 5.5.9 (localhost)
Thanks in advance for any help!
