Localhost Cannot access wordpress.org servers on WordPress 3.4.1

    Looks like my local installation of WordPress cannot access WordPress.org Servers.


    XAMPP on Windows: version 1.7.3
    PHPMyAdmin reports the following:

    Apache/2.2.14
    PHP/5.3.1
    MySQL client version: 5.1.41

    Therefore Plugins Add/Search functionality unavailable. Thought it was some install error, updated Core files manually again, did not resolve.

    Just observed all attempts to download from the servers gives the following error.

    Attempt to download/re-update 3.4.1 core files from server

    Download failed.: Could not resolve host: wordpress.org; No error

Installation Failed

    Attempt to Add/Search for Plugins

    An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with

WordPress.org or this server’s configuration

    And just as an after thought checked the main Dashboard, the main WordPress RSS Feed there also not showing but the Other News section okay.
