 * Hi Tim,
 * There is a separate locale for the Indian Bengali version, which is “bn_IN”.
   It was introduced in 2019. [https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/?locale=bn_IN](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/?locale=bn_IN)
 * Currently, you have “bn_BD”, which represents Bangladesh. But Indian Bengali
   has some deviations and differences from “bn_BD”.
 * Please include “bn_IN” this in your plugin.
 * Thanks!
   Subrata Sarkar

 * Hello.
 * The list of “Available locales” comes from WordPress. See [](https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_get_available_translations/)
   [wp_get_available_translations](https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_get_available_translations/).`
   bd_IN` doesn’t show up in that list because [the core translations](https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/bn-in/default/wp/dev/)
   are only at 9%. I presume this is what you mean by it being missing from my plugin.
 * You can add any language files in Loco Translate using the “Custom language”
   option. Just enter `bd_IN` in the text field. This way, the locale is available
   in my plugin and you can create core language files if needed.
 * Alternatively, download the PO files from the partially complete [community project](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/bn-in/default/)
   and upload them through Loco Translate to install into the “system” location.
   You’ll need to rename the files as instructed by the UI.
 * Once you have the core `bd_IN` language files installed, you should see this
   option in the list of “Installed locales” which also comes from WordPress. See
   [get_available_languages](https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/get_available_languages/).

 * Hi Tim,
 * Thank you very much for your message. I understand the reason. Just a small correction.
   Indian Bengali is bn_IN. I am not sure if there is anything called bd_IN.

 * Apologies for my typo. Too late to edit my post. Enter `bn_IN` as your custom
   locale and it will work.
