# local wordpress development installation

 * hi im am trying to install wordpress locally. i have set up my xxamp created 
   a database and new user in mysql but it keeps giving me this error msg when i
   try to config
 * get to the config part now its giving me this error msg
 * We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and
   password is okay) but not able to select the localhost database.
 * Are you sure it exists? Does the user wpuser have permission to use the localhost
   database? On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username,
   so it would be like username_localhost. Could that be the problem? If you don’t
   know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all else fails
   you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.
 * i checked my password and users names multiple times. no sure what could be the
   problem?

 * So your database server is running, the login user and password are correct, 
   the message tells us this. What is in doubt is:
    – does the database exist ? –
   does the user have permission to access this database ? – does the user have 
   privileges to do things to the database ? You can do these tests using the mysql
   command line program. But most people install phpmyadmin instead, look under 
   the Privileges TAB for list of users and drill down from there. Some webserver
   installations install phpmyadmin as part of the bundle, otherwise it is an extra
   step to install it.
