# local webserver issue with wordpress

 * Having a pulling hair out moment…! please help
 * I have setup a local webserver using xampp and have a few sites on there that
   use php and they work fine locally and externally for clients to see site progression.
   Yet when i install wordpress it works fine internally ([http://localhost](http://localhost))
   yet when any of the wordpress php files are viewed exteernally it just returns
   a “page cannot be displayed” error message.
 * If i point it to the wordpress readme.html file that displays perfectly but none
   of the php files…
 * I’m baffled by this and really would appreciate any advice

 * What advice do you need… besides looking at the admin > Settings > General page
   and take a long look at the two URL values. Are they “localhost”? Yes, they are.
   And those are stored in the database.
 * Any machine in the world will “think” of **localhost** as themselves…
