# Local Host FTP

 * Hi All –
 * This is my first time dealing with a local host, so if I am missing something
   obvious, please let me know. I am running this on XAMPP for Mac.
 * I’d like to update my plugins via the dashboard (which asks for FTP information)
   but I receive this error:
    **Failed to connect to FTP Server localhost.com:21**
 * I’ve tried using 127.0.0.1, and ftp://localhost with the correct passwords and
   either way I get the error message. Earlier, I had an erroneous password and 
   got a different error message, so I know that isn’t it. I also opened the XAMPP
   sub folder permissions to read+write.
 * I appreciate any help you can offer.
