Local development copy of network – simple guidelines
-
Hello guys, I would like to run a local development copy of my network.
I have done a little bt of research and this is what I can conclude: it is hard work.
Anyway, I have jotted down my thoughts in this post and I would be grateful if you could take a quick read at it and tell me if I need to correct anything before I embark on the journey to go local! Background
1. Web hosted, WP latest version, multisite/subfolder installation.
2. WP installed in the root folder http://www.mysite.com
3. Buddypress is installed as a secondary blog http://www.mysite.com/buddypress
4. A handful of sites in the network, being http://www.mysite.com/site1, http://www.mysite.com/site2, etc, etc.Installed local xampp and WP.
I have found this tutorial very interesting.

So I am going to install wordpress files in the following folder c:\xampp>htdocs\mysitedotcomI got lost here
http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_DirectoryThis has literally blown my head off.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Running_a_Development_Copy_of_WordPressAll I am trying to do is to have a copy of my network (live environment)……on my laptop. This will enable me to test plugins and themes before I activate them n the live environment.
Could you please share a simple tutorial that explain how to do that?
Thank you for your support and apologies if this question has been already asked somewhere in the forum.
