Hi @wp207 ,
Thanks for reaching out and for checking in about this — that’s a great question!
The llms.txt file was recently introduced by All in One SEO. It’s designed to help AI systems (like search engines and large language models) better understand your website’s structure and content. It’s created automatically by the plugin and is completely safe to have on your site.
If you prefer not to use this feature, you can easily disable it in your WordPress dashboard:
- Go to All in One SEO → Sitemaps
- Click on the LLMs.txt tab
- Toggle off the Enable LLMs.txt option
- Click Save Changes
Once disabled, the file will no longer appear or be accessible.
So you don’t need to delete it manually — simply turning off the feature will take care of it for you.
Hope that clears it up! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi, Ok thanks. I will keep this file though as it is a new important feature !
I have another request. I would like to recreate the robots.txt file ! How can I do that ? Do I have to delete it manually in the base and AIOSEO will create a new one automatically ? Do I have to deactivate the plugin and activate it again ? Thanks for your reply in advance ? Great day. Philippe.
Hi @wp207 ,
That’s a great question — and I’m glad you’re exploring these advanced SEO features!
You don’t actually need to recreate the robots.txt file manually or by reinstalling the plugin. All in One SEO doesn’t store a physical robots.txt file in your site’s directory — it generates it dynamically each time it’s requested.
That means:
- There’s no file in your server that needs to be deleted or recreated.
- Any updates you make using AIOSEO’s interface will automatically appear when you visit yourdomain/robots.txt.
If you want to make changes or start fresh, you can easily do it using our Robots.txt tool:
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to All in One SEO → Tools → Robots.txt Editor.
- Here, you can view or edit the robots.txt rules anytime.
- Just click Save Changes, and the updated version will take effect immediately.
We also have a detailed guide that walks through this process step by step:
https://aioseo.com/docs/using-the-robots-txt-tool-in-all-in-one-seo/
So, no need to delete or recreate anything — simply manage it from within AIOSEO, and the plugin will handle the rest.
Hope this clears things up! Let me know if you’d like help adjusting specific rules in your robots.txt file.
