• Ran the first the index and selected files to delete. At first they wouldn’t delete. Then realized that the bottom global command selection for delete doesn’t work, but the top one does. Deleted 300 or so images and spot verified that there were no false positives. This IMHO is the heart and soul of the plugin. Does it accurately find unused images? Yes and very well in my test – 5 stars.

    Now on to doing a larger batch for 2nd test. Deleted a bunch of portfolio posts and ran the index again. This time it didn’t find any orphaned images even though I just deleted and emptied the trash for 70 or so posts that had featured images attached to them.

    If I understand the FAQ properly, one must delete all the images from the index before doing a second index? What if I don’t want to delete images that the theme uses from the upload directory?

    For a one time scan the plugin is great. But it failed me as on-going maintenance tool if there is no way to clear the 1st index and start new again.

    The plugin works as intended. Its not buggy after the second index. Please, let me explain.

    First of all, _no orphaned pictures are indexed_, if the metadata is correct the image is regarded as used. Even if it is not used in a post.

    Second, you do not need to remove files from the index after the first run, they will be re-indexed on the second, third or n-th run.

    Third, if you move files from one index and run the index again. The moved files are added (as moved) again to the current index.

    I hope after my explanation you find the kindness to one-up the rating :). Also, I am planning to extend the plugin with orphaned images, but this is as of yet, outside the scope of the plugin.

    Allow me to reiterate what I previously wrote;

    “Now on to doing a larger batch for 2nd test. Deleted a bunch of portfolio posts and ran the index(ing) again. This time it didn’t find any orphaned images even though I just deleted and emptied the trash for 70 or so posts that had featured images attached to them.”

    That was my experience. Since then I have deleted the plugin and used the native orphaned image search which found the featured images referenced above.

    Ok your expected functionality of the plugin differs. In mu opinion that does not make the plugin buggy, as your title suggests. Even with a diferent expectation in functionality that statement is quite harsh.
