Listing posts of a selected category on sidebar (5 posts)

I've been rooting around the codex and in here and elsewhere trying to find a solution and I haven't been able to find it. I know this can be done in MT so it should be able to be done in WP:

I would like to display a list of entries for one particular category on the sidebar, like this:

    Category Name
    An entry
    Another entry
    Yet another entry

But only for a certain category. I've studied the codex on using the category tags, but it looks like these just provide a link to a page that displays the stated category(ies), I haven't seen where it would actually drop the list in there. I also looked around under archives, but didn't have any luck there either. It's no big deal if I can't do it, but it would have been nice. Thanks for any help.

P.S. I'm redoing my car club's web site, and I'm using an old domain. If you want to take a look at what I have so far, go here:

P.P.S. I have modified Patricia Muller's lovely connections theme so that it looks fairly similar to what we have now (http://zcar.org). I will give her kudos in the to-be-created colophon. Do let me know if this is bad form or if there is a better way to indicate I've modded her stylesheet.

Try Coffee2Code's customizable post listings plugin at http://www.coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/

Is there a similar plugin out there for WP 2.0?

According to this list: [[User:Matt/2.0_Plugin_Compatibility]] it should work with 2.0.x.
(and it really works on my 2.0.2 install)
Did you try it or just curious?

Being new to WP, I don't know how big of a change 2.0 is over previous versions, so I thought it best to ask first. :)

Thanks for getting me up to speed moshu!
