Listing pages and sub-pages as one list? wp_list_pages

I am in the process of making a mobile theme. So I have made a custom page template for my home page. I would just like to list all my pages so I can derive a simple navigation as a lit of links. I have tried multiple ways to manipulate the wp-list-pages, but I can not seem to get the sub-pages to be listed in the same hierarchical level as the parent. Is there a list_subpages function?? thanks so much
