I am converting my site from Joomla to WordPress and would like to have a page list approximately 30 links to downloadable files from my website.

What would be an easy way to do this?
    Thanks.

  • Does it have to be a page? Many use multiple Link Widgets in the footer for this. Create 3 or 4 Link categories and to see them in order give them reverse rankings (10 shows at top of list output)…this way they will be on all pages too and is an easy way to manage them.

Yes, it needs to be on a page.

I have a set of classes that I teach and want my students to be able
to go to a “class” page and see downloadable files laid out week by
    week.

Tip: When I have had long lists of links to setup in HTML, I have setup a template in Excel than concatenates a series of cells (in one row) to achieve the required html text (this is later output as plain text), then I can grab the whole row, copy it down, and just have to fix a cell or two per row – the varying page, the title)….this would work well to keep your links stored (and reusable), add to etc…

    Sounds good.
When I copy this text to the wordpress page in html format, will it work (maintain the correct links)?

If the HTML is correct and in plain text, yes…do a few test runs on draft posts.

    thanks

I did this and it seemed to work:
I created class files in the wp-content/uploads directory

Then renamed the links from /classes/subject1
    to /wp-content/uploads/subject1/name-of-file

Please mark post as resolved if it is so.

    And, you are quite welcome.
