List feed-generated events by coordinates

Hi,

I am attempting to list feed-generated events by their lat/lng coordinates in relationship to a specified city. My cities are in a list of event categories and the feeds are primarily from Meetup.com.

For instance, I might have the city “Los Angeles” and I want to display all Meetup events from a specific feed that are within a 25 mile radius of Los Angeles.

I’m wondering what the best approach would be. Ideas include:

1) Hook into the Event Calendar filter that creates an event from the feed (doing all the calculations myself). If so – are their specific actions/filters I should be looking at? Is this even possible?

2) Using the Meetup API to create feeds that already contain events within the correct radii. I have about 30 different Meetup feeds.
