I’ve read the instructions and many posts about this and tried to implement a template to make the thumbnail appear first then everything else after but it’s just not working. Nothing changes. Perhaps it’s not working in the latest WordPress upgrade?

I copied the default.php file from list-category-posts, moved the thumbnail code above the title code, renamed the file mylist.php, uploaded it into my child theme in a directory named list-category-posts, and then referenced the template in my shortcode template=mylist but the image still displays below the title and date.

There were several people in other posts about this who kept insisting you just need to float left the image. That doesn’t do the trick either.

client is looking for something similar to this page: http://thevideospot.net/blog/

By the way, if anyone has a better idea for getting this page to do the same thing as http://thevideospot.net/blog I’d welcome them!!!!!

I figured out the darn directory I placed it in, inside my child theme, had category spelled incorrectly. Story of my life…lol. The following did work!

I copied the default.php file from list-category-posts, moved the thumbnail code above the title code, renamed the file mylist.php, uploaded it into my child theme in a directory named list-category-posts, and then referenced the template in my shortcode template=mylist.

When the directory was named correctly…this worked great 🙂
