 * I would like to use Linux as my host, since that is what WordPress recommends.
What exactly is Linux, and since it gave me lots of distributions to download,
which Linux program should I download? Are they all the same in working for WordPress?

 * How are you going to use this as ‘your host’ ?
I’m not sure what it is exactly
   you are trying to do.

 * Instead of going down the road of trying to run you’re own Linux server, your
best bet is to find a host whose computers run Linux.
    Learning Linux is a whole
other endeavor. If you want to learn Linux though, get your feet wet with Fedora.
   Then jump to Gentoo.
