  • Hi Mind, please make sure that the Privacy settings in both Skype clients are the same. You need to make your status ‘visible to the web’… After that, it’s the Skype server that keeps track of your status so if that does not update properly, then the plugin will not detect your status properly either 🙁

Some people have reported that switching the status manually several times made the Skype server ‘wake up’ but those experiences might just have been based on a coincidence…

If these steps fail, then there is nothing more that can be done about it then wait.

Has anyone experienced that with the Linux version of skype that you know of?

The skype version for linux is significantly different, and I even checked the online status through skype and it showed me as offline as well. It’s a fantastic plug-in otherwise though. Thanks for getting back to me! 🙂

No, reports about the Skype server not updating correctly have come from Linux, Windows and Mac users alike… I’m on Ubuntu GNOME with Skype 4.3.0.37 (and the Skype Shell integration extension) and my status gets updated instantly.

So no conspiracy, even if Skype is owned by M$ now 😉 just bad luck? Or maybe bad management by M$ because this has been going on for a while now according to http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Online-status-not-being-shown-correctly-on-contacts-list/td-p/2927225
