Support » Fixing WordPress » LinkWithin not working after I changed permalink settings…

  • I just switched my permalinks to name my blog posts by the post name versus the default which I’ve always used. Now my linkwithin links are showing “page not found” even thought the posts are actually still on file. HELP!

    bump

Not sure what you mean by linkwithin. Let me guess you have links in your post that point to other post, right? I think you will have to change them to the new format as WP cannot find those post (page not fond). All your posts are there but the link address to them has change to %postname% format. This means that if you had a link like

    …/?p=123
    it may have changed to
    …/the-bread-making

so any links in your post like …/?p=123 will have to be changed to …/the-bread-making where ever they are in all your posts.

would I have to do this all manually? I figured once I changed the preferences to have all posts named by the blog post name instead of the default …/?p=123 that all the permalinks would change now too.

Yes you would have to do it manually. But it is worth having your permalinks as %postname% because better from SEO point of view.
