 * Where exactly is the template file `links.php` used? I can’t seem to find it
   anywhere on my site.

 * That sounds like a custom page template and as such will vary from theme to theme.
   Many themes will not contain such a file.

 * Read on if links.php exists in your theme’s directory.
 * You need to set it yourself. see: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Page_Templates](http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Page_Templates)
 * Example: Create or Add new Page called Links, then on your right side under Template
   set to Links. Then publish.

 * Scorix,
    I use default theme as well. links.php came with the default theme,
   and its located in the default “themes” directory.
