Support » Plugin: Admin Menu Editor » Links won’t hide. No option and menu item has no option

  • Loving this plugin!

    Ok a few issues.

I’m creating a very custom menu for my users and have moved many menus into sub menus.

But I have a few things that are still showing up in my menu and they don’t show up in Admin Menu Editor at all so I can’t hid or move them.

    See this screen shot.

    08.21.2017-00.39.10

    1. The “Links”…I don’t see any kind of option showing for it for me to drag it to a submenu or disable it.

    2. “Delete Site” – This is a Multisite install and I want to hide this option but can’t find it anywhere in your editor

    3. “Domain Mapping” – Same with this one. No option. That is coming from a plugin for domain mapping.

    Any ideas?

I noticed one other plugin where I moved it to a sub menu but like 3 or 4 of the built in options for that plugin went into my main menu….again couldn’t see options for them. Hope this makes sense.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    I’ve responded to your email.

A short summary for other users: the plugin only shows menu items that are available on the current site, for the currently logged-in user. Menus like “Delete Site” don’t show up on the main network site, so, to customize or hide them, you need to open the menu editor on a different site.

Thanks so much Janis for the fast response. So will that just update it for the one user or globally?

    Sorry couldn’t find your email….

What about the “Links” I was able to get rid of the other 2 items as per what you said above but not sure about “Links” and where that is coming from.

Maybe the email is in the “spam” folder?

Links” is an obsolete WordPress feature. In theory, it’s supposed to be disabled by default, and it should only show up if:

    a) You installed the Link Manager plugin.
    b) Your site already has one or more blogroll links.
    c) A plugin or theme enabled it with a small code snippet.
    d) Something set the link_manager_enabled option to 1.

That’s a lot of possibilities. Does this menu show up on all sites or only some of them? If it’s the latter then, like with “Delete Site”, you’ll need to go to a site where it’s visible to hide it.

Failing that, changing link_manager_enabled to 0 would probably be the next easiest solution. You can do that through the hidden options panel or by adding this code to functions.php:

    add_filter( 'pre_option_link_manager_enabled', '__return_false', 11 );

Thanks so much Janis! I gotta tell you your plugin is AWESOME and is just what we needed 🙂
