I just created a new wordpress blog and made a post with two links in the entry body to a new category.

In the ‘post preview’ at the bottom of the ‘write post’ page the links are clickable. When I publish the post and view the site- the links are not clickable. I viewed the source of the page and sure enough- the link text was not surrounded by the href tags.

Can anyone suggest a starting point for figuring out what’s up?

  • Did you manually insert the tags in your post? or use the quicktags? Are you using any plugins that might affect it?

I have tried it using quicklinks and manually putting in the tags- both with the same result. This is a fresh install with no plugins.

What is the theme being used?

It’s possible the_excerpt() template tag is being used to display your post instead of the_content().

Good eye Kafkaesqui, that was exactly it.

You posted at about the same time I realized the links were OK in the permalink but not the category archive.

    Thanks for the help.
