When I try to add links to my psts or pages, one of two things happen: 1) nothing (the box stays up) or 2) I get kicj=ked back to my dashboard page.

PLEASE HELP… I’m really new at this, so tech lingo confuses mr still.

    THANKS!

I’m running laptop with Microsoft Essentials, and had already started a scan with Microsoft Security Scanner (Which is updated every 10 days).

Since the links all work from the desktop, I was thinking, okay maybe I could bypass this issue for a little bit. (Getting a bit frustrated… THANK YOU for staying with me on this… )However, “Link Box” inside WP still wouldn’t add link from “About” page to “The Letter” page from desktop… uggh.

The Bright Side: If I’m goiing to make this blogging/im lifestyle work, I gotta be patient with EVERY Aspect.

There is No response on the above link… (last question on this page; no replies) 🙁

There was no response, but a solution was contained in the post:

I don’t know if I’m in the right place, but hopefully, if not, you can forward this. When online and reading something I click on a link and a small yellow star appears and I can’t transfer to the linked info. However, if I disable the google toolbar helper add-on, the star doesn’t appear and I can then follow the link.

    Yes, that is correct.

This really is not a WordPress problem and I am out of suggestions. If this does not solve the problem, you might have better luck on one of the Microsoft Forums.

    Thanks for trying…

Please bare with me a minute longer, as I need to be sure we’ve addressed the MAIN issue… because from my desktop, where I CAN access every OLD link on my blog, I still Can’t add NEW LINKS in NEW PAGES and NEW POSTS or CHANGE LINKS in old posts. If we’ve addressed that issue and there is nothing more you can do, than so be it. And I thank you very much, for being patient with me.

Fix the browser problem first, and see if the rest go away. Remember, you are going through the browser to enter the links.

    🙂

Downloaded Firefox.(Seems to run faster… yeah!) I’m still to the same place as with desktop:

I CAN access every OLD link on my blog, I still Can’t add NEW LINKS in NEW PAGES and NEW POSTS or CHANGE LINKS in old posts.

Did you run a virus scan on your PC to be sure it is clean? If not, do that first.

Then go to scan your site for malware by using this service:

    http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/

If that scan doesn’t find any problems, make a full backup before going any further.

Once you have a backup (that can be used to restore the site – not a full backup through cPanel), try switching to one of the ‘Twenty…’ themes to see if the problem is still there. If not, the problem is in your theme.

If one of the default themes still fails, reinstall WordPress by going to Dashboard->Updates and clicking ‘Reinstall Now’.

That should give you a fresh copy of WP without disturbing anything else, so if something in WP is messed up, that should fix it.

Just taking a minute to say thanks! I did need to reinstall… The bright side: Being VERY new and having JUST found my KEY Focus, I was planning on revamping a few things anyway. Funny how Good Things come from tough places. 🙂

    Blessings to you and yours!
