• I’m running WP 4.0 with The Retailer Theme
    My site: http://www.shimmerlings.com

Since WP update (yesterday) I am having difficulty with most of my links within the site pages. The sidebar and top/bottom menu links all seem to work properly as well as the “read more” links, but the images that are linked to other pages, and hyperlinks within text are the issue.

The url exhibits correctly on rollover of the image/link, the url is correct in the address bar when the link is clicked, but I am ending with the 404 error page.

    I have:
Cleared my browser cache, and tried other browsers
Cleared cache for the main page in question, as well as several of the gemstone pages individually
Checked that the links were not corrupted in Tablepress
I deactivated all of my plug ins, no change
I checked the Master list, and codex, as well as the forum; with that I also tried:
    refreshing permalinks
checking and unchecking “force SSL” at checkout
I do not have any of the noted problem plug ins

The plug ins I am running are:
    Akismet
    Cunjo
    Envato WordPress Toolkit
    Revolution Slider
    Tablepress
    UpdraftPlus-Backup/Restore
    WooCommerce
    WooCommerce Header Category Image
    WooSidebars
    WPBakery Visual Composer
    WP Retina 2x
    WP Super Cache
    YITH WC Wishlist

The MAIN causes are the links to my individual gemstone pages…from all links within the site, image and text. Here is an example of an image linked page:

    http://www.shimmerlings.com/gemstone/

Nothing is linking to the individual gemstones (i.e.: http://www.shimmerlings.com/gemstone/amethyst ) all 404s

I am not not a pro (hence the WP) but I am surprised that I can’t seem to find others with the same issue, and none of the resolved posts helped in my situation. Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks so much!
    JM

Is the Reatailer Theme developed by themeforest? Yes? Here is their support: http://themeforest.net/forums/topic/themeforest/themeforest

Thank You Tara, The Retailer Theme is in fact a theme developed by themeforest, and I appreciate the link…. although the issue didn’t occur until I updated WordPress application, so I am looking for help here.

Today, a Retailer theme upgrade was offered, and I updated in hopes that it may help fix the problem…but still having the same issue. Being that none of the plug ins seem to be the issue, I am hoping that someone else with WP will know what is going on.

to rule out any theme specific issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard with ALL plugins off.

I’m joining this conversation as I also have the same problem (all my CPT posts give me a page not found).

To make matters worse, my Custom Post Types disappeared from the dashboard..

Tara, I am sorry I rec’vd your post a little too late, I have a temporary work around that will solve my biggest issue…but when I am finished with it, I will switch themes to see if the issue still remains.

As I said my gemstone pages were the biggest issue for me, and they all have the same Parent Page. I found that when I changed to “no parent” that the page could be accessed -not through the link- but at least ACCESSED. So I am creating a new links page for the gemstones, and attempting to get a note onto my 404 (also an issue) but that will carry me through at least until I can figure the rest of this out.

@everlast00, I don’t know if your posts have parent pages? You could try one and see what happens…I have about 130 that I need to resolve so I’m getting back to it.

I will update later when I have had an opportunity to change themes…

I just upgraded to WP 4.0. The link feature stopped working. I found that by deactivating TablePress the problem stopped — so that plugin seems to be the problem. Hopefully, TablePress will upgrade the plugin. Any way to contact the developer?
