• I’ve always enjoyed using one of the columns in the footer for useful links. With the new release none of the links in the footer show. In fact, it appears that the “widget” for links is not in the new release. Could that be true? Are links limited to pages and posts? Ouch! I rolled back to the earlier version. You can see them in the first column on my site: https://identityXperts.com. They go away if I upgrade. Please advise.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hallo,
all the links well display at the bottom of the main page are gone.
    How to recuperate them?
They are many links, about 30.

    Thanks

The widget that was present before was actually not provided by Link Library. It was provided by the built-in WordPress link manager, which Link Library is no longer based on.

That being said, you can install a plugin to allow shortcodes to be used in text widgets (https://wordpress.org/plugins/allow-shortcode-in-text-widgets/). Then, use a Link Library shortcode in that widget, just like you would use to put links on a page.

    Thank you Yannick!

I will try the plugin to allow shortcodes. I know all plugins are not created equal in their effect on performance. Do you have any thought on the performance hit of two versus one plugin to get the same result? What kind of footprint are we talking about? 🙂

Well, technically, it was almost two plugins doing this before, since Link Library activated the core Link Manager that is tucked into WordPress. This plugin to allow shortcodes in text widgets is super lightweight.

Thank you for your expertise and kindness. Warmest regards, John

I just introduced a new widget that can display one of your library configurations in latest update. So you could switch to this new widget and remove the plugin to enable shortcodes in text widgets.
