Links in Recent Posts widget not working properly

Hi,

I have made my club website and added wordpress 2.7, I have made the theme the way we want it. it all seems to work and look fine, but I have a problem with some links, not all just some.

I have widgets enabled and I got the recent posts one. I have a header for the recent posts, and tailored the CSS to style the markup.

Nearly all my links in my sidebar work fine, apart from the recent posts links; they seems to behave very strangely, although they use the same CSS as the other links.

these Recent post links dont register or hover all over the link where they should, for example one only links on the very right hand side (not over the text) and another links nearly all over the link area apart from the bottom left.

this problem arises in FF, Safari & Chrome, but not in Opera & IE8

could someone help me solve this problem?
