Links and Filter capability

I’m struggling to find a plugin that will allow me to present a page with links to external URLs (like Link Manager/Blogroll) but also would allow me to filter the list of links by categories. Sort of like a retail store can display a list of items and you can filter the list based on filter criteria.

My site is a Parks and Rec site that has tons of links to external parks and rec URLs but I want to provide the visitor with the ability to see links for their city, preferred sport, etc.

Is there something that comes close to doing this for WordPress? I haven’t found it and now that the Links capability is deprecated, I’m not even sure how one would manage external links without a plugin like Link Manager.

Anyway, do any of you have an idea where I might find this type of plugin?
