Support » Developing with WordPress » Linking inventory for Variable and Simple Products

  • Hey Friends!

    Here’s the issue:

On our store, we sell a number of individual simple products (oils, muscle creams, roll-ons, soft-gels) and also offer a “starter kit” option. The “starter kit” is a variable product that allows the customer to select 1 roll on, 1 soft gel, 1 muscle cream, and 6 tinctures to be included in a box at a discounted rate. The Muscle creams and the Tinctures have different scents/flavor types the customer can enter for inclusion in the starter box, hence the variable product.

    My question is this:

How can I get the starter kit variable product deduct the stock of the simple products the customer selects? (ex. If the customer adds a “Peppermint Muscle Cream 1000mg” to the starter kit, how can I have the inventory number of the “Peppermint Muscle Cream 1000mg” to decrease?

Currently I am using the “Enable stock management at product level” to keep track of the amount of physical starter kit boxes we have to put the products in.

The simple products are not linked at all to the variable product.

Open to any ideas or solutions! Thank you!

I recommend asking at your e-commerce plugin’s dedicated support so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

We aren’t currently using any plug-in. Just using the included wordpress options.

We aren’t currently using any plug-in.

Looking at your site, you use some woocommerce related plugins with flatsome theme.

Please note flatsome is a commercial theme. For support about this theme please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations: https://themeforest.net/

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

Thank you for your help. I assumed the issue I’m facing was not related to flatsome theme or the other plugins we have installed.
