• Hello people,

Wonder if anyone knows what to do about this?
I want to make a page on my site that links to another site – and I want the link to show up in my nav menu.

Usually, the links in the nav menu all refer to pages within one’s own site. Anyone have any idea how you can make a link in the nav menu refer to another site?

    Any help appreciated, thanks,

    Sharlot

  • Hi Sharlot,

WordPress now has a custom navigation menu built in. You can create links to anything you want. Internal or external. The only thing is, your theme needs to have support for it.

From your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance -> Menus and create a custom menu on the right hand side. If your theme supports custom menus, the Theme Locations will be active and it will let you know how many menus it will support. If so, add some menu items to your new menu and then activate your menu by selecting it in the Theme Locations box and clicking save. Your custom menu should now be displayed in place of your previous menu.

However, if your theme does not support custom menus, this page will explain how to modify your theme to make it compatable:

    I hope that helps!

    Hey John,

Thanks for your thorough answer. I played around with things a bit, and found that my theme does support custom menus, if you click a setting within that theme. So I did everything you said to do, and it all worked just fine.

So thank you for a very clear answer!
