Support » Fixing WordPress » Link to same site url turns into media, breaks editor

  • I’m seriously considering throwing in my hat here. I’m finding myself spending multiple times more hours trying to problem solve glitches with WordPress and plugins than being able to produce any content for my site 🙁

    Today, I am trying to publish an article that I have spent hours writing (I do not make any money off my site) and all of a sudden I can’t click inside the Visual editor. After about 40 minutes of searching the net, I look into the code, one line at a time on the Text editor and I see all this weird code:

    <p class="wpview-selection-before"></p>

    <div class="wpview-body" contenteditable="false">
    <div class="toolbar"></div>
    <div class="wpview-content wpview-type-video">
    <div class="wpview-error">
    <div class="dashicons dashicons-admin-media"></div>
    No items found.

    </div>
    </div>
    <div class="wpview-overlay"></div>
    </div>
    <p class="wpview-selection-after"></p>

    So I breathe a sigh of relief, thinking I’ve got it figured out and it’s an anomoly, delete the code, and sure enough, I can click in the editor again! I post up my in-house link beneath the YouTube link where it was at again, and WHAM! Problem is back.

    This time I try a different route, I write my sentence and I only link the last three words, thinking maybe their needs to be some text in between the code that turns the YouTube url into a video and a link. Nope, doesn’t fix it.

    Anybody have a clue what’s going on here?

    Edit: On the visual editor side after it freaks out it says “No Items Found” with an image of a camera and a musical note. Also, I discovered the article I was linking to was listed as a Video post type, so I made it normal to see if that would make a difference, and it did not.
