Support » Plugin: s2Member Framework (Member Roles, Capabilities, Membership, PayPal Members) » link to #level 1 page takes to membership options page

  • Hi,

I am having a big problem with my customers because the links to the pages with “#level1 or more” instead of taking them to the login page it takes them to the membership options page (where the buy button is). The log in form only appears when they link directly to the login welcome page.

Is there something I should configure to fix this? Thanks!

  • That’s how it is supposed to work. Otherwise anyone who obtains the URL would be able to login and see your posts or pages.

Remember: neither WordPress nor s2Member knows who any user is until s/he has logged in. Until that point, neither of them knows whether to permit access or not. That’s why s2Member directs users attempting direct access to a protected post/page to the Membership Options Page.

You shouldn’t be giving out the URL to the specific posts, just the URL for the login page. I’m sure you know that you can configure the Welcome page to be role- or user-specific, so when they login, they will see what you want them to see.

s2Member will always redirect to the Membership Options Page when trying to access something protected by s2 that you don’t have access to.
