I want to add a Post that directs to a PDF that is on my library.

When I added the post it points to new page I added, let’s call this new page page2.

The problem is that my users now have to click twice. Once from the homepage to page2 and another click on page2 to the PDF.

What I need is the link from the homepage to point directly to the PDF to save my users one click. How can I do this

I thought that editing the permalink would do that, but when I copy and paste the URL of the PDF, it removes all the “/” and “-” , making the link fail.

  • When you insert a link to a file, make sure the link is a link to the file not to the attachment page.

The link to the page is working fine. That was not the question or the challenge.

The question is, how do I make the link to the new page, go to the PDF instead of the actual page?

You may need to clarify your use of the terms “post” and “page”, but in response to this:

You can create a custom link that can be added to a menu directly from Dashboard > Appearance > Menu.

    Reference: WordPress Menu User Guide

Create the custom link and insert the absolute url to the pdf, then position the link in the custom page menu (if it’s a page link) and save the menu.

Or you might try this plugin: Page Links To
