Hi, sorry for the VERY late response to your question.
You can only create a dual-column layout inside of each category, where it would show links in two columns.
Would that work for you? or do you have too many categories as is?

But I can’t find anything in the settings to achieve that… How can this be done?

Sorry for the lack of response, I am currently in a big crunch time at work, which is eating up all of my free time.
I threw something together quickly to steer you in the right direction. You will find a set of settings to import here:

The basic idea is to display links as a table and to only create a new row in the table every so many entries.
