When a user forgets their password and gets the reset email sent to them.

The link under “To reset your password, visit the following address:” starts with a “/” and then the wp-admin information and the rest of the link looks correct. Any ideas why it is not including the domain in front of all this to make a correct link? When I try putting the domain in form of the link in my browser the page spins for a while and give me a page not found error.

Any ideas on solutions or a direction to go in?

Hello, @sterndata for the address I have the URL of my site https://www.espanolenuso.com

@contentiskey That is what I was thinking at first. I was using a plugin called theme my login and thought that was causing this. After deactivating it and setting the site back up to work with the wp login I still get the broken link. I also have some security plugins and I have tried deactivating as well.

The password reset was working fine but at some point this happened and was brought to my attention by a user. So I am at a loss of knowledge when it started happening to try to figure out what might be the culprit.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time.

What a great tool! I had never heard of this plugin before. I am running into an issue though. Using the plugin in troubleshooting mode is there a way to submit a password reset request? Because I would have to log out in order to do a reset request and that would take me out of troubleshooting mode.

Yeah, I realized tha right after I clicked “submit”. You may have to do the manual thing and disable all plugins “for real”.

Thanks, Steven. I set up a local testing site and went through all the plugins. Long story short it turns out it was my theme causing the issue. I got in touch with them and they told me how to fix it.
