It has to do with CSS specificity. Your theme’s stylesheet has both a {}
and .basic a {}
. The second rule overrides the first because .basic
makes it more specific than just a
. In your custom CSS, .basic a {}
overrides the equivalent rule in the theme’s main stylesheet because it comes last. When there are two CSS rules of the same specificity, the one that comes last overrides the one that comes first.
