Link Category ID Numbers?

    I’m not sure if this pertains to this plugin, OR the WordPress Core. Here’s my problem:

    I’ve been using the WP Render Blogroll Links plugin which uses ID numbers when organizing link categories for output.

    I’ve used the plugin for over 1 year, and was under the impression that the WordPress Core created the ID numbers whenever new Link Categories themselves were created using the old Link Manager.

    Does anybody know if this new Link Manager Plugin EXCLUDES ID NUMBERS? I’m currently using WordPress 3.6 alpha 23288, and new category ID Numbers are not created. Have ID Numbers for link categories been permanently removed from the Core, or just temporarily during the development process?
