And there the license doesn’t need to be activated either for plugin updates, as it is getting updated from the official plugin repository. * So if you are trying to use the Free version, then make sure the Pro does not exist on your website. * In this case, if the update is not working, what you could do is remove the plugin( don’t worry, your slider will stay), and install it from the plugin repository. We have v 3.3.27 installed and it wants us to update to v 3.5.1.21 and it won’t do it automatically. What you described above so far is exactly that needs to happen if you use Smart Slider 3 Pro without an activated license. So that already confirms that you are using the Pro version, but you can check this easily, if you go to: - WordPress > Plugins > Installed plugins * there you should choose the “Active” tab, so you will see only the active plugins, and search for “Smart Slider 3”. If this is fine for you, then go to your Plugins list, deactivate (and possibly delete) Smart Slider Pro, and then install Smart Slider Free: [https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1717-wordpress-installation#free](https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1717-wordpress-installation#free) * And as Robert mentioned, some settings will [require adjustments](https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/2028-sliders-look-different-after-the-3-5-update) due to the big version difference, so you should think of this Pro -> Free replacement as possibly a fresh start with our plugin, where you might need to recreate your sliders. * In case you aren’t sure, that this is fine for you, I suggest creating a backup from your website first.
