Support » Fixing WordPress » Link breaks in comments

  • I, for the life of me, cannot understand why my WordPress install is ignoring linebreaks (multiple linebreaks) in user comments. I’m really hoping I’m just missing a switch somewhere but I’ve dug and dug through config. Basically, I want to be able to support a comment that looks something like the following.

    ———–
    This is the first paragraph of the comment.

    This is the second paragraph of the comment.
    ———–

    I’m instead winding up with:

    ———–
    This is the first paragraph of the comment.
    This is the second paragraph of the comment.
    ———–

    Can anyone provide assistance – here’s a great example of how ugly comments can be sans line breaks (scroll down to the fifth comments – the earlier comments are a bit deceiving – there are line breaks present because I went into admin app and forced the breaks with standard html br syntax)….

    TIA!

  • It’s your theme, not WP…

    in blog.css you should have this:

    #wrapper.blog_entry div.comments div.comment_content p {
      color: #653500;
      font-size: 80%;
      line-height: 1.4em;
    margin-top: 10px;  <== added by me!
    }

    or whatever values you need!

    You are a saint. I don’t know why I didn’t notice that.
