I’m having trouble changing the password of a WordPress user to a value containing a mixture of punctuation and alphanumeric characters and was interested to know if this is supported?
From what I can work out from the code, the use of backslashes in passwords is specifically not allowed, but I noticed that entering a password containing a double quote (ASCII code 34) also produces the same error about the use of a backslash.
Looking at the PHP documentation for the md5() hashing function, I can’t see any limitations on the character set that can be used as an input. So perhaps there’s another reason for these restrictions?
