Limit to 5 posts per page

    I am totally new to WordPress and I have a few questions to ask:

    1- How do you set to 5 the number of post per page?

    2- I would like to display a category icon to a post. I found the “category icon” plugin in the plugin list but the link is now broken: http://ragwings.org/wordpressplugins/cat-icon.phps. Could somebody tell me how to add an icon per category.
