I manage a small website that supports a class of students. The website includes handouts, references and other material that supplement the text. Those items are in posts, which are presented in the main (right) sidebar. The number of posts is not high (17 to date) but will grow during the class. Right now the main sidebar is presenting only 10 posts. I installed the Posts in Sidebar plugin to try to increase the number. While the full number of posts are shown in the development site in Desktop Server, the published website still shows only 10. The theme of the website is Astra, which has been set to a maximum posts of 99.

Any idea of why the published website will only show 10 posts in the sidebar?

    Thanks.

    Hello @philbruce,
I see that your sidebar is using the standard widget “Recent Posts” of WordPress, not a widget of “Posts in Sidebar”.

    Let me know, please.

Aldo, the Main Sidebar in Widgets is set to “Posts in Sidebar.” Where else might the standard widget “Recent Posts” be set?

    Thanks for your help.

The only widget I see has “Additional Material” as title. This widget is a WordPress’ standard “Recent Posts” widget. Here is a screenshot:

    Thanks for your help.

    You’re very welcome! 🙂

Shouldn’t the Widgets control panel in the Dashboard control which widget is used? The Widget control panel shows “Posts in Sidebar: Additional Materials” in the Main Sidebar box.

Interesting additional information: the development website, which I manage with DesktopServer shows all the posts and has a different title for that Main Sidepanel than does the live website, which shows only 10 posts. Apparently my changes to the Sidepanel widget is not being published to the live website.

    Is this a DesktopServer problem?

I don’t know DesktopServer. Have you tried changing the widget in the live site?

I believe this has to do with the expectation that WPSiteSync a plugin used to push content from a local site (For example one created by DesktopServer) to a live site. WPSiteSnc is not a deployment tool and would not push a widget or it’s settings to the live site. It is being discussed that an extension for WPSiteSync could be created to push Widgets.

You can use DesktopServer to deploy a complete site including Widgets from a local creation to a live site.

So, this doesn’t seem to be a problem related to Posts in Sidebar.

I mark this thread as resolved, but @philbruce feel free to ask here.
