Limit of podcasts to iTunes

  • Hi there,

I’m hoping you can help…I’ve looked for the response to my Q but can’t seem to find one…

Also hope this is not a daft Q as well….

I had set up my feed for iTunes at 30 posts. I’ve tried to change it so it can accommodate the new posts I’ve added to the feed, but it hasn’t changed it.

So wanted to know if there is a limit as to how many posts a feed can take, please?

Well, it depends on whether you are using a proxy service like Feedburner. Feedburner has a limit for the amount of data in a RSS feed. Services like this store the feed data in a cache memory and they update the stored data only in certain time intervalls and not in the moment you change the feed settings.

But if you have registered your original WP podcast posts feed at the iTunes podcast repository then there is no or a very high limit.

You can change the amount of posts in a WP feed on the General Settings > Readding screen of WP: http://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_Screen

I have to correct myself a little bit:
If you are using podPress then you have the possibility to adjust the amount of posts per feed for podPress Feeds via the section with the same on the Feed/iTunes Settings screen of podPress.

    Two Problems with iTunes setting:

I have reset the “Syndication feeds show the most recent” to “100 posts.” However, only 10 posts are listed. I need all of the podcasts (60) listed.

The last podcast that I posted on July 22, which is also set up to go to iTunes, did not post in iTunes. Why?

If you use the podPress podcast feed then you need to adjust the related setting on the Feed/iTunes Settings page of podPress. The option there is named “max. amount of posts per feed”.
