• Hello guys.

I have the plugin Limit Login Attempts in my website and it’s working fine, however, recently I have gotten so many failed login attempts. To be exactly, 2 months I have been receiving notifications. The plugin is working good, it blocks the attempts all time but I’m still getting notifications form other IPs.

I’m little worried about my website and I’d like to know if there’s anything else I could do. These failed attempts won’t stop. A month earlier, I have set few IPs to my block list in my CPANEL, but the bad logins are still happening.

The plugin is working as it should. Stop reading the emails and you’ll feel better.

    Hi Steve, thanks for replying.

I understand your point and it was exactly what I was behaving at beginning but it turns out at this month, logins attempts increased ridiculously. I can’t just ignore the fact that somebody is trying too hard. I’m getting close to 500 attempts a week. Obviously there’s something happening behind it. I believe it’d be better off reinforce security, but I got no idea in what way I could work that out.

I have my own server that hosts about 6 sites. Periodically, I get ticked off and go through the logs and permanently block (via iptables) entire blocks of IP addresses. I’m not sure it add to the security much, but it makes me feel better.

Anyhow, if you’re not a site that accepts a lot of international logins, there are plugins like “IP Geo Block” that let you block out entire countries for either seeing your site at all or trying to login.
