Since the new update the lightbox-function does not work. If i click on a picture in the gallerie its open in full-screen. Can anyone help me? Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin? * If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can. * Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well. * If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details. * Thanks! * – Cais. * [thenightrider](https://wordpress.org/support/users/thenightrider/) * (@thenightrider) * [10 years, 5 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/lightbox-does-not-work-3/#post-7191108) * This is yet another regression of the lightbox setting bug that has occurred numerous times since the plugin was taken over by Photocrati. It’s one of the regressions I always check for when a new version comes out because happens regularly. Sometimes the setting gets erased, sometimes it gets mangled, and other times the HTML code produced get mangled, which is what is happening this time. * In Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects > What effect would you like to use? * if you choose “Custom” and insert in the Code box any of the following: * rel=’lightbox[ ]’ rel=”lightbox[ ]” rel=’lightbox[]’ rel=”lightbox[]” rel=lightbox[] * the lightbox won’t appear and you’ll just get the large image without any lightboxing. For years now I’ve been using Lightbox Plus Colorbox, and am now at the current version 2.7.2. The gallerie pictures displayed always in full-screen. I tried to add new gallieres, change themes, custom Codes in Lightbox effects, disabled and activated all plugins with clearing browser cache – without good results…. However, the code only works if you’ve got the “Lightbox Plus Colorbox – Base Settings” set to “ Output Valid HTML5” AND you’ve put “rel” (instead of the default “lightboxplus”) in the “HTML Data attribute” box. That was for version 2.7.2 and I don’t think I ever got a response, but now I can’t confirm that because the plugin has disappeared. As far as I can tell there has been no version update since 2.7.2. Maybe it has been abandoned or maybe it is being worked on, but there is also no news from the developer, Dan Zappone, at [https://www.23systems.net/wordpress-plugins/lightbox-plus-for-wordpress/](https://www.23systems.net/wordpress-plugins/lightbox-plus-for-wordpress/). However, you can download lightbox-plus.zip from that site and it is still version 2.7.2. * It would be unfortunate if the plugin has been abandoned because it has been excellent and has some useful options that no other lightbox I’ve run across so far has. The secondary lightbox option in particular can come in very handy. Of course, I could be wrong about capabilities because as of now there are 44,081 plugins in the repository and there may be a super one now out. Maybe there is even a fork. I haven’t researched it yet. * Unfortunately, too many half-baked lightbox plugins exist in the repository, so you can spend a lot of time testing them to discover their limitations. Too often these are deceptively crippled so that the repository version is not really usable, and these will come with built-in ads to a paid “premium” or “pro” version that gives a minimum level of functionality. Paid plugins with extra functionality can be fine if you need the extras. NextGEN Plus and Pro are good examples.
