Hello @kelseychurch1,
Thank you for the review and I’m sorry if it is not clear about free trial. Please look at the plugin description. Over there we have mentioned about free trial two times and on the cleantalk.org as well.
If you have information, evidence for fake review please report it plugins@wordpress.org.
If you got technical issues please post support request here https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/cleantalk-spam-protect/ or https://cleantalk.org/my/support/open if you need to share personal details.
We are happy to support you!
Hello @kelseychurch1,
Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback.
The plugin itself is indeed free and distributed under the GPLv2 license.
The fact is that the plugin utilizes a premium cloud service for its operation. We always try to be open about this: it is mentioned in the plugin’s annotation and in its WordPress catalog description here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/cleantalk-spam-protect.
We state upfront that this plugin works with a premium cloud service, and we offer a free trial before you choose to subscribe.
CleanTalk is a plugin with free code that integrates with a Cloud Anti-Spam Service, which is an example of Software as a Service (SaaS): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_as_a_service. Such plugins are permitted in the WordPress directory, as confirmed here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/is-this-plugin-free-to-use-after-trial/#post-5336850.
If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can create a private ticket with our support team using this link: https://cleantalk.org/my/support/open
Kind regards.
