Hello. A huge pet peeve of mine is when plugins fail to update on local host development and staging environments (site clones). It turns out WPML is one of these, joining the ranks of ACF Pro, WooFunnels, WP Bakery, Slider Revolution, Elementor Pro, Tasty Recipes that I’ve faced similar troubles with. Something I generally classify as “wonky licensing” and look to remove or replace whenever I come across it.

Thankfully WooCommerce.com extensions, Divi and Beaver Builder seem to operate properly in that they cache the Pro activation into the database so clone environments function through to the expiry.

So, does WPML offer any way for the developers and webmasters who operate clone environments and keep WPML up to date? I sure hope so. Please advise. A client of mine has five WPML plugins so it’s particularly troubling. Further, the red and orange non-standard plugin update banners don’t match the interface and give me a yuck feeling.
