letting users login and post immediately

  • I want to be able to let visitors to my site register, login and post without me having to lift a finger. Using Owen‘s Limit Categories plugin I have it set up so that users with a level of 2 or less can only post in one category which I don’t allow to be displayed on the main page. Instead, the post titles will show up in the sidebar using Dan’s RumCategory plugin.

The main issue is not having to promote people who have just registered. Any ideas on how I can do this? Thanks in advance!

  • Wow, no takers on this one?

Sorry to bump this, but doesn’t anyone have any thoughts on this?

My thoughts when I saw this were that very very soon you would be blocking the abusers of your trust, after all, if I could register then start blogging about the wonders of the various pills I sold (assuming I was Mr Nasty Spammer) then you’d be after closing my access.

So it’s then a case of which is worse:
    – having to promote people
    – having to apologise / delete posts / ban etc….

    Wow, SOMEone’s a pessimist! 😉

Isn’t it kind of a hassle to register now, though? In 1.5 you can’t register without a working email address. Also, if it gets out of control, I can just turn off the ability for new users to post.

Well, no matter what I decide, I appreciate the post, Podz and IanD, thanks for the link, I’ll check it out.
