Let users create new posts and add content to old posts

    I want users to be able to create new posts and allow them to add content to older posts through a front-end form. User registration should not be needed, but I do want the option to change this later on if needed.

    Is this a standard function of WP, or are there plugins that could handle this?

    WP requires users to create a profile (register) to add content.

    You can search plugins but you do know that if you can do this and do, your site will be over-whelmed by spam in short order.
