Support » Theme: Oxygen » Left sidebar is not as "responsive" as other content

  • Resolved Urban Huntress

    Hi there,
Widgets in the left sidebar seem to just go behind the main content and overlap it in some cases when a window size is a bit small (like on the iPad), but not small enough to force it into one column. It seems to me that the issue is in the responsive settings for the left sidebar.

I don’t know what to do about this. Any suggestions?

  • Does this happen to theme demo site too ?

if not, check the content in your sidebar widget, see if there is any element that has inline style with width in exact px.

The issue is that most of the widgets I had in the left sidebar have minimum widths that are slightly bigger than the sidebar itself.
Example: I’m using the Jetpack twitter widget which just uses the official twitter widget code. This twitter widget as a minimum width of 180, but the sidebar minimum is 160, thus the overlap when displayed in a medium size window.
The weird one is the Search widget because it’s using the Oxygen theme’s search.php, so I don’t understand why that is too wide, but it is.

Anyway, I just moved the bothersome widgets to the right sidebar as a workaround/solution and that did the trick. Good enough!
