I totally get what your are trying to do with this project but it’s taking authors down a tricky path.

I tend to write is fits and spurts and spend time moving a shifting chunks of text around. I add and remove headers, lists, images and so until I have a structure that works for me. Because of how the blocks are used copying and pasting becomes very difficult. I tried to add a list the normal way (by hitting return and then changing the group into a list) but I couldn’t do this.

I wanted to change a line of text into a header but it’s now two actions (used to be click on the drop down and select) with those awkward floating boxes that won’t go away.

Media handling isn’t good at all. I wanted to add an thumbnail image to the left of a paragraph and I couldn’t, none of the usual options were there. I can see that I can resize but There is no option to use the presets (so all images are the same size).

I sort of gave up a this point I it become increasingly difficult to fix the layout the way I wanted.

If Gutenberg remains an option then that’s fine but please, please, please don’t make it core.

Thanks for taking the time for a review, each piece of feedback does get listened to and matters. First, there will be a way for people to not use Gutenberg, that’s something always has been the case. The how is yet to be decided. The hope though is as this is a project not yet complete, as it grows less will want to turn the experience off.

There are a lot of iterations and improvements being worked on right now, so it would be great in a few weeks if you could try out Gutenberg and see what you think. Hopefully you will find some smoother flows in the experience.

I’m doing loads of testing and adding issues on Git as I find them.

It’s great that the WP team are developing the platform but sometimes new features are added they don’t improve the UX. Especially as there are a number of core features that still need addressing (like needing access to wp-admin in order to run ajax).
