# LCA Management – not writable

 * I made a directory for LCA with 777 in my root folder (ie /avatars) on my website,
   and it keeps telling me it’s unwritable.
 * I entered /avatars and [http://www.mywebsite.com/avatars](http://www.mywebsite.com/avatars)
   into the LCA managment. I know it has to be the correct spelling as the default
   are appearing.
 * If I put the permissions to 666, the avatars disappear.
 * I’m so frustrated that I keep getting “The specified location /avatars is not
   writable. Please make this writable before using this plugin.” even though it
   seems to be working fine!
 * I’d be really glad for anyone who can help.

 * Not sure what the policy is on bumping, but I would like an answer 🙁

 * not familiar with that plugin. you may have better luck asking on the plugin’s
   site.

 * [@boober](https://wordpress.org/support/users/boober/) – problem is that his
   site not only seems to have no section (or page) about the plugin, but I didn’t
   even find the feedback section…

 * Hey guys, sorry it’s taken me so long to get to this post, plus I really need
   to update that page on my site!
 * The thing is, the path to the image in the admin section has to be from the full
   root of your hosting, that is, from the /home/username/public_html or /home/username/
   httpdocs or whatever it is that the hosting uses. Try that instead 🙂
 * Thanks

 * I have 1and1.co.uk hosting, and from what I can see, I’m in the root already
   Oo
    When I sign up to the ftp, I am sent directly there – wherever that is… I
   have no idea how to get this working…

 * If you use 1and1, try changing “[http://www.mywebsite.com/avatars&#8221](http://www.mywebsite.com/avatars&#8221);
   to “/home/USERNAME/public_html/avatars” where USERNAME is your username for 1and1…
   🙂

 * I’m afraid none of those options worked for me, so it looks like I’ll have to
   look for a different plugin that achieves the same effect but doesn’t require
   that directory :/

 * Try downloading the new version, I’ve updated it so it doesn’t require that directory
   🙂

 * I am now trying desperately to find an error on my behalf to get this thing to
   work. I rated your plugin a 5 for the effort you put into it, but it’s still
   not working for me 🙁
 * I was hoping to keep my url secret until I was ready to release my site, but
   [please have a look.](http://3rastth.puresimple.net/_/avatars)
    I don’t get why
   I’m getting a 404.

 * What exactly are you hoping will show up at that page?

 * Sorry, I must have re-named the page: [http://3rastth.puresimple.net/avatar-upload](http://3rastth.puresimple.net/avatar-upload)

 * What are you using to put the avatar upload form on a separate page?

 * I used a page template with the php inserted.

 * Usually PHP doesn’t work within pages though?

 * It does if you put it in the template, otherwise the form wouldn’t have shown
   up 🙂
    I tried it, believe me. I’m really confused as to why it won’t work 🙁
