Support » Plugin: WP Performance » Lazy loading images not loading instantly

  • Hi Ante,

I am having some some instances where lazy loaded images aren’t loading as soon as they appear on screen. This is occurring where the images are in a slick slider where 7 thumbnails are sitting side by side across the page. If I scroll down to these images so they are in the centre of the screen often 1, 2 or 3 images may not load. If I do another small scroll they will load but the space where they should be is just empty until I do that which is great. Is there some way to fix that?

Thanks very much for your time.

    Hi @platoscave
You can exclude those images by specifying images container id or class.

    Example

Thank you very much getting back to me, but I don’t really want to exclude them. I am assuming that as long as an image appears in the viewport it should load immediately. These are essentially just images floating next to one another. Is there some reason why they aren’t loading immediately? Like is this just a known thing that you have to exclude images that float next to each other and lazy load them in some other way?

    Thanks again.

Have you tried any other lazyload plugin? Does it work?
Can you share the site URL?

Slider images are difficult to lazy load because of the image manipulation by the slider itself ( show/hide image, move the image around, etc. )

Slick slider already has ability to lazy load images, and you probably should use that.

Thank you very much for your help. I will try to use the slick lazy loading option for the sliders.

@alaca Do you support lazyloading css background images?

    Hi @alriksson

    No, not at the moment.

Ok, in the nearest future and on the roadmap?
